Once the sun has set, the pretty seafront and picturesque alleys come alive again when locals and visitors stroll along to their favourite café or restaurant.

The main café bars are situated on the harbour side; they catch the sun during the day, and provide a peaceful and serene view of the Mediterranean in the evening. However, if you explore the side streets and winding cobbled alleyways, you will discover bars that offer a very different experience. Most bars have some live music at night, and you are welcome to join in with the singing and the dancing. You may even find yourself caught up in a local wedding party.

There are three discos in Datça, catering for a wide range of ages and styles: this is not night-clubbing as you know it! Discos tend toward Turkish music rather than British or American pop, and you will spot all of Datça dancing at some point - from the local politicians to the restaurant staff. |

If, however, you are looking for a more Western experience, Bodrum and Marmaris have all the bars and discos you could wish for. In particular, in Marmaris 'Bar Street' is highly recommended, as is the Halikarnassus nightclub in Bodrum, the biggest open-air nightclub in Europe. |
